Changing Many Fans at Once

Setting a reply mode one fan at a time is fine for a handful. When a persona is proven and you want to move two hundred conversations onto automatic drafting, the fan list does it in one action.

  1. Open Fans in the dashboard.

  2. Narrow the list first — filter by creator, or search. What you change should be what you can see.

  3. Tick the fans you want. The checkbox in the header row ticks everything on the current page — and only that page, so a filter matching thousands of fans cannot be changed by one click.

  4. A bar appears at the top of the list showing how many fans are selected.

  5. Choose the mode:

  6. Press Apply to selected and confirm. The confirmation names the number of fans, because three fans and three hundred fans are different decisions.

The Mode column in the list shows what each fan is on now, so you can see what you are changing from before you change it.

Every bulk change writes an entry to the account’s activity log with:

  • who made the change and when,
  • the mode they set,
  • how many fans were affected,
  • what each fan was on before.

That last item matters. There is no undo button. If a change turns out to be wrong, the log is how you find out exactly which fans to put back and to what.

Move fans onto automatic sending in cohorts you can name — “everyone in early small talk on Mia”, “everyone who has not spent anything in 60 days” — not in round numbers. When you review the autopilot log a week later, you want to be able to say which decision produced which result.

Two groups worth keeping out of every bulk change: fans your team has tagged for manual handling, and anyone with an open payment dispute.

Anyone who can edit fans — chatters included. Chatters can only see and change fans on the creators assigned to them.

Changing what the creator defaults to, and what the autopilot is allowed to do at all, stays with managers and owners. See Reply Modes and Autonomy.
